Dear Applicants,

*The GPA Calculation Table below (illustrated on the basis of Bologna system studies) presents details on how REF SP calculates the GPA for the applicants for the REF scholarship competition.

General considerations

1)    REF SP uses weighted average formula to calculate the total GPA, applying the following weights:

  • REF SP considers the weight of 66.6% for the latest completed academic year, and the weight of 33.4% for the completed first semester of 2016-2017 academic year.

Example: Student John Smith has GPA 6.7 for the 2016-2017 academic year and 9.0 for the first complete semester of the 2017-2018 academic year.

To calculate his total GPA, REF SP uses the following weighted average formula:

"Total GPA = (6.7 x 66.6 + 9.0 x 33.4) / (66.6 + 33.4)"

In this case, total GPA for REF SP competition equals with: 7.4682

  • For those applicants who did not study in 2016-2017 academic year, the REF SP considers the GPA from their latest academic year only (100%).

Example: Student Sarah Johns has GPA 6.7 for the 2016-2017 academic year.

She did not study in 2017-2018 academic year. In this case, total GPA for REF SP competition equals with: 6.7

2)    Each failed exam, or skipped /absented /missed /postponed exam is counted as 0 (zero) in the calculation of the GPA!
