ROMA HEALTH SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

ADDITIONAL COMPONENTS

2016-2017 ACADEMIC YEAR

Academic Conference, Foreign language courses and Computer courses

The Additional components of the Roma Health Scholarship Program (RHSP) are meant to encourage ongoing RHSP beneficiaries to enhance their academic and professional development by participating in extra-curricular activities and by building an academic or professional network outside university. For this purpose, the REF RHSP supports RHSP 2016-2017 beneficiaries to participate in conferences, attend foreign language and computer courses within their own countries or abroad.

The maximum amount that one applicant can receive for a Conference Grant is 700 EUR, for the Foreign language 300 EUR and for the Computer courses 300 EUR. Priority will be given to students who have not benefited of RHSP Conference Grant in the past.

RHSP 2016-2017 beneficiaries interested in benefiting financial support from the RHSP additional components must complete and submit an Offline Application Form. The call for receiving applications is open until the end of June 2017. Please note that the activities under the additonal componets can take place latest till the end of August 2017.The additional components grants will be provided based on a first-come-first-served principle, until the allocated funds are exhausted.

The completed offline application form (the offline application forms are at the bottom of the page after the guidelines) must be sent to:

In order to properly identify your application, please indicate in the subject line of the email, the following: RHSP Conference Grant/ your given name and family name, for example:

“RHSP Conference Grant/Sarah Johns” or “RHSP Foreign Language/Sarah Jones” or “RHSP   Computer Course Sarah Jones”

A. General Eligibility Criteria for RHSP Additional Components:

  • Applicants must be current RHSP 2016-2017 beneficiaries by the time of submitting the application for the RHSP additional components grants;
  • Applicants should prove that they have been accepted to participate or attend at the respective additional component event or course and that the event/course organizers are not covering the costs that the applicant is requesting from the RHSP additional  component; In case some of the costs are covered by the organizers or any other third party, details of these contributions should be provided to REF SP;
  • Applicants should submit proof for any budget cost included in the application form;
  • Retroactive conferences, foreign language and computer courses (i.e. that occurred before the time of the application submission and/or announcement of the call for RHSP additional components grants) are not eligible; 

B. Specific Eligibility Criteria for: 

       Conference Grant

  • Applicants should prove that they have been accepted to participate at the respective conference and that the event organizers are not covering the costs that the applicant is requesting from the RHSP Conference Grant component; In case some of the costs are covered by the organizers or any other third party, details of these contributions should be provided to REF SP;
  • Applicants should submit proof for any budget cost included in the application form;Retroactive conferences (i.e. that occurred before the time of the application submission and/or announcement of the call for RHSP Conference Grant) are not eligible;

Foreign language and Computer courses applications eligibility requirements:

  • Applicants should have applied and be conditionally accepted in a Language School/Computer course accredited in  their residence country; please note that one-to-one language/computer courses (i.e. private lessons, be them within a school, or in other setting) will not be supported;
  • Applicants should submit a Letter of Acceptance from the Language School/Computer course, which should contain the applicant’s name, language level/computer course level, length of the course /number of sessions, the conditional acceptance confirmation (i.e. conditional upon the fee payment); and the amount of the course fee; In case some of the costs are covered by the organizers or any other third party, details of these contributions should be provided to REF SP;
  • Applicants should submit proof of accreditation of the foreign language school/ Computer school/institution/organizing company entitled to run and issue certification for foreign language/computer courses (printouts or screenshots of the accreditation document). The accreditation proof should be issued by a relevant authority in your country, based on which you can obtain a valid certificate for completing the course;
  • Those RHSP beneficiaries who received an RHSP Language Courses Grant in the past should also submit a certificate from the Language School they attended, certifying (which language and what level) the successful completion of the course/level;
  • For students who benefited of RHSP language courses in the past academic years and who intend to apply for a RHSP Grant for the same foreign language, the level of language courses to be supported in 2017 should be higher than the one supported in the past;

Selection criteria:

The support will be provided based on a review of several aspects, such as:

  • The applicant’s general academic standing;
  • Expressed motivation for participation in the conference, and how will this contribute to applicant’s academic performance and /or personal development;
  • How closely is the nature /focus of the conference related to the specialization pursued by the applicant;
  • The value/importance of the conference for applicant’s academic field /specialization and/or for applicant’s personal and professional development, career prospects. 

REF SP will announce the closing of this component, on its website under the RHSP scheme, when the allocated budget is exhausted.

Reporting Procedure

It is mandatory that all beneficiaries of the RHSP additional components (Conference grant. Foreign language grant and Computer course grant) in the academic year 2016-2017 to submit (by email) to their REF SP RHSP Country Coordinator a completed Report Form, together with financial justifications of the expenses (i.e. payment receipts, invoices, obtained certificates if applicable), no later than 2 weeks after the completion of their RHSP components activity.

The RHSP additional components Report Form must be submitted via email to your RHSP Program Country Coordinators with the following subject title: “RHSP components Report Form / your name”.

The submission of the RHSP additional components Report Form is mandatory; failure to do so will disqualify the applicant from the future RHSP competitions as well as from the future REF SP scholarship cycles. 

According to REF Scholarship Program policies and procedures the applicants found responsible for submitting to REF forged or false documents and information shall not be further considered for REF SP scholarship schemes or additional components, and for other REF programs.

In case you become a recipient of a RHSP additional components grants in 2016-17 academic year, please note that all the Contractual Obligations (page 6 of your scholarship Online Application Form - OAF) which are applicable to your RHSP scholarship grant are valid for the RHSP additional components grant as well.
